As with most art forms, Painting can viewed as a process of continually solving steps. Composition, value, form, light source, hue, temperature, subject matter, etc… Starting with beginning painters, projects surround solid foundational knowledge for solving these issues while learning different methods and techniques which include, but are not limited to, indirect, direct, and alla prima. As students progress, assignments are designed to teach them about concept by introducing both common and innovative themes in art. And once in advanced painting, students are encouraged as they build their own body of work while researching and understanding art movements of the past in addition to figuring where they position themselves among contemporaries.
